Join us in celebrating an incredible honor for our very own Sandy McCaleb, who has been named the Alabama Child Nutrition Program Director of the Year!
This recognition reflects more than three decades of unwavering dedication, leadership, and service to students and school nutrition professionals across Alabama. Throughout her 30+ year career, Sandy has intentionally mentored new directors, provided expert guidance in program compliance and financial management, and created meaningful professional learning opportunities for school nutrition teams statewide.
Her leadership has helped train hundreds of school nutrition employees, strengthened partnerships with district leadership, and ensured the highest standards of food safety—with 100% of her staff earning ServSafe certification. Sandy has also championed professional growth, encouraging and supporting her entire team in achieving advanced certification levels, strengthening both program quality and student experience.
Beyond her district, Sandy has served as a trusted leader and resource across Alabama—organizing regional trainings, supporting colleagues through statewide networks, and contributing her expertise to state leadership efforts. She leads with a servant’s heart, lifts others up, and sets the standard for excellence in school nutrition.
