Congratulations to Brett Cotton and Audrey Spillers for representing WCHS as ambassadors at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar. These students were selected based on their leadership potential, character, service, and ability to positively influence others.

HOBY is a nationally recognized leadership program that welcomes school- and community- high school sophomores to participate in leadership seminars focused on developing leadership skills, building confidence, and encouraging service to others. Through engaging workshops, discussions, and collaborative activities, students learn to identify their strengths and discover how they can make a positive impact in their schools and communities.

We would also like to recognize former WCHS HOBY ambassadors Jack Hayden Cook and Kane Kendrix who were selected by HOBY to serve on the HOBY Alumni Staff at this year's seminar. This is a significant honor that is awarded to former ambassadors who demonstrate outstanding leadership and a continued commitment to the HOBY mission.
Their service helped ensure a positive and successful experience for the new ambassadors while allowing them to continue developing their own leadership skills.

We are proud of all of these students for representing WCHS with excellence and for demonstrating the leadership, service, and character that make our school community proud!

Congratulations to Blaine Bowen and Brody Lynn for representing WCHS as delegates at the American Legion’s Alabama Boys State! These outstanding young men were selected based on their leadership potential, character, and commitment to their school and community.

Sponsored by The American Legion, Alabama Boys State is a premier leadership and citizenship program that provides students with hands-on experience in the political process and the operation of state and local government. Through active participation, students learn about the responsibilities of citizenship, the functions of government, the role of political parties, and the importance of informed voting and civic engagement.

We are proud of Blaine and Brody for representing WCHS and our community through their leadership, character, and service.

Schedule pick up for 9-12 grades will July 9 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. WCHS Open House will be Aug. 4 starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District presented us with a check to help sponsor our FFA Forestry Team. We will travel to Auburn on June 8th to compete in the State FFA Forestry CDE. Forestry team members include Hudson Shubert, Joseph Harbin, Sean Kimbrell, and Brett Cotton.

Important message concerning PayPams accounts for cafeteria purchases. We would like to thank you for using PayPAMS! Effective 5/21/2026, payments, balance information, email reminders and cafeteria purchases will no longer be available on PayPAMS due to transition to a new system at the district’s Child Nutrition department. Student balances will be transferred to the new system. The school district will contact parents regarding new payment options. All money in the student and adult meal accounts will transfer to the new system before August 2026.

Doors will open at 2 PM for ticket holders — we can’t wait to see you! All other family members and friends are welcome to enter the gym starting at 2:15. See you there!

Winfield City Schools has implemented the Open Gate weapon detection system to enhance safety across all campuses. These scanners will be used today at Graduation on Sunday, May 17, to screen all attendees as they enter school grounds. These free-standing machines are designed to detect weapons while allowing everyday items such as cell phones, coins, and car keys to pass through without triggering an alert. Here’s what to expect when scanners are in use: 🔹 Everyone will walk through the scanner individually, along with their belongings. 🔹 If the scanner is triggered, further instructions will be provided. This may include emptying pockets, being screened with a handheld wand, and/or having bags/backpacks searched if necessary. The priority of Winfield City Schools is to maintain a welcoming and secure environment for students while ensuring the safety and well-being of every member of our schools and community. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to keep our schools safe.
