Mrs Patton, Mrs. Cook, and WCHS Students closed out Pirate Spotlight 97.7 Winfield Radio with Doug Threadgill for the school year with a focus on what the senior class has coming up and what they have been up to so far.
Career Tech Cosmetology Disney Fashion Show was a big hit with faculty and students. Mrs. Handley and her cosmetology students did a great job with costumes, hair, and makeup. Thank you to all faculty, parents, students and community members that supported and helped with this event.

School Lunch Hero Day in 2025 is on May 2nd, the first Friday of the month. This day is a time to celebrate and thank the school nutrition professionals who provide healthy meals to students. It's an opportunity for students, parents, and school staff to recognize the important role these professionals play in supporting student health and learning.

Isaac McNeill and Briar Kelley have qualified for the State Fishing Competition, representing Winfield City Schools. The state tournament will be held on May 10, 2025, in Decatur.

We are spotlighting our 11 members that went to Mobile this month to compete at State. 10 placed and will be competing in California in June. We appreciate all that they do to represent and support our amazing school.

Beta would like to highlight Slade Webster.
Slade Webster is a sophomore member of the National Beta Club. This year, Slade completed 540 hours of community service, making him the highest earner in the club.

April 21-25 is National Student Leadership Week and Winfield City High School would like to recognize some of our student leaders. Today, we will spotlight the National Honor Society , which is sponsored by Mrs. Carla Patton.
Our president, Casie Tidwell, plans to attend the University of Alabama for a degree in Biology on the Pre-Vet track. After graduation from Alabama, she plans to go to Vet School. Her hope is to be able to own her own veterinary clinic and animal shelter.
Vice President, Charlee Kate Aldridge, plans to attend the radiation therapy program at Wallace State Community college. Afterwards, she plans to transfer to UAB to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Dosimetry. The ultimate plan is to work as a Medical Dosimetrist for an oncology clinic.
Secretary, Leah Jungels, plans to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of North Alabama. She also plans to get involved with collegiate FBLA. After college, she plans to obtain a Master's Degree in Accounting, which will hopefully help her find a better or higher paying job.
Treasurer, Breck Mays, plans to major in Aerospace engineering. His dream job is to work with NASA or Lockheed Martin.
Historian, Kennah Lacy, plans to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville to play softball and pursue a degree in human anatomy. After graduating she plans to attend med school at Samford to get her doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her dream job is to own a clinic and practice Physical Therapy in Winfield.
The above students go above and beyond and we are so thankful for their hard work and drive to succeed.
