We are pleased to welcome Sgt. Steve Thompson as the School Resource Officer at Winfield City Schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Sgt. Thompson has 33 years of experience in law enforcement and has spent the last 5 years in Winfield. Sgt. Thompson just completed NASRO, the National Association of School Resource Officers, training in Opelika that certified him as a School Resource Officer as well as other school safety training. Sgt. Thompson has been married to his wife Jane for the last 11 years and has a daughter Courtney, a stepdaughter Sarajane, and a stepson, Peter. He also has 6 grandsons ranging from 11 years to newborn twins. “I never really imagined myself doing this as I started in law enforcement,” said Sgt. Thompson. “Since I have been here at Winfield City Schools it has been an enjoyable experience working here and being around the kids.” Winfield City Schools is very thankful to the Winfield Police Department for all they do to keep our schools safe.
