Due to hazardous driving conditions caused by Flash Flooding, school is CLOSED today. With more rain possibly moving in, there are some roads that are dangerous for our buses to run and for people to drive. The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) is working with the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) to make P-EBT cards available to families that qualify for P-EBT. These cards will provide financial assistance to replace school meals that were missed during SY20-21 due to school closures or modified schedules.


WInfield High School's Reece Kirkpatrick was recognized in Cooperative Farming News Magazine about how to properly set traps for animals, as well as safe removal of wildlife caught. FFA members from across Alabama attended the trapping camp in Red Bay, along with Kirkpatrick.


Just a reminder! Spring Break food boxes will be handed out to the Elementary School, the 5th and 6th graders at Middle School and High School this afternoon, Thursday, March 18th. Middle School 7th & 8th grades will be handed out tomorrow, Friday, March 19th. The food boxes are FREE and every Winfield City School student will receive a box of frozen foods. If you child rides a bus, the food boxes will need to be gotten off the bus. If you are able, please be there to assist in helping get these items off the bus. Please remember these foods are frozen and will need to be put in the freezer or refrigerator as soon as they get home. Thank you SnapEd and Ginger Eatman for partner with Winfield City Schools.


According to Marion Co. EMA, our greatest tornado threat will be between 7 pm & 12 am tonight. With the threat of power outages and debris on roads, Winfield City Schools will be on a 2 hour delay, Thursday, March 18th. Buses will run 2 hours later than normal. Stay weather alert

This Saturday, March 20, the Winfield Pirates baseball team will take on the Haleyville Lions at Regions Field in Birmingham. First pitch is at 12 noon. Come out and support the Pirates.


Winfield City School Parents: While all students are receiving free meals (breakfast and lunch) to September 30, 2021, it is very important that parents fill out a free/reduced application if they have not for this school year 2020-2021 if they have not already been approved for free/reduced meals or if their income has changed during the school year. Parents may apply online at www.winfield.k12.al.us/applynow.com or they can pickup a application at their child’s school. Please apply by March 31, 2021, your child may qualify for other federal programs.

Veterans can come by that day for dinner on us in appreciation for all you have done. Also we are honored to have Johnny Spann throwing out the first pitch in memory of Johnny Michael Spann.

We ask all first responders and health care workers to come and stand with the team for the National Anthem at 4:25. First responders and heath care workers can come by the field that day for dinner on us in appreciation for all you do. Melinda Wilson will honor us with the first pitch.
